Imp Dream is not about fitful sleep images. sexual fantasies or hoping to win the lottery. It is about helping you achieve a practical objective or preparing yourself for the reality of getting what you wish for. Of course, you may already have achieved your dream, but are too busy collecting junk and trying to impress people to realize it. We may be of help there too. No, the ImpDream Team are not wizards or oracles. What they have is a lot of diverse experience and a calling to help others. Simply put, they have lived a thousand mistakes you do not have to make. Why they should care about your problems or desires is the question. That is where candor and honesty come into play.
There are a couple of truths about the future that you may not realize:
- every person wants a greater say over future conditions and choices
- every other person is competing with you for this control and freedom
- every person wants something different from “now,” but few are willing to do what is necessary to make this happen
IMP stands for Inspiration, Motivation and Planning. For any life situation you may have one or two of these in place. We can help fill in the missing pieces of the puzzle AND sometimes recommend a service or product or idea that will assist you. It is like priming a pump. If we help you achieve some dream (or be happier with the process), then you might accidentally help us achieve ours. We will not be competing any more. We will be pushing in the same direction. But, this only works if we help people who are willing to help themselves. Our focus on this website is “building a henge” or “getting control of space.” see Actions for all of the Foundation’s interests.
We have to be picky about whom we spend time with. The last thing we want is to offer a solution that you cannot or will not do. So, we will provide recommendation FOR FREE and see what you do with the information. woodHenge Foundation survives from donations from those who have found value in the information, or just like the way we deal with strangers. It all starts with an ImpAct Assessment. (see Contact)

ALTERNATIVE DOMICILE
The American common living arrangement has focused on a single dwelling unit. Kitchen, bath and sleeping necessities are augmented by family rooms, sitting rooms, laundry rooms, offices, conservatories and more. Only messy or noisy or dangerous functions are relegated to garages, pump houses, workshops, greenhouse, etc. Most homes have rooms and space that is rarely used but still must be heated and cleaned. Every resident thinks they need a private room to close off and mess up the central heating and air effectiveness. It does not have to be that way.
Families grow and the trend was to add to a house or move to a larger one. Kids move out and the old folks move to a smaller condo. Realtors love this cycle, but thus is changing. Kids never move our or boomerang back. Aging in-laws are cared for at home rather than shipped off to expensive Assisted Living or Nursing Home solutions. Many people desire to work at home some of the time, or operate a home-based business. Thus, more and more families are looking for a way to modify the old place rather than find a new one. Here are some alternative ways of doing this:
NOTE: always consider how your choice will impact People, Nature and Spirit (inner peace). see Building a Henge
Room conversion. A rarely used space can be repurposed to a more effective arrangement. An attached garage becomes a family room or guest room. The dining room becomes an office, etc. Consider creating a sleeping room for all the kids and converting separate bedrooms into study, exercise room, game room or office. All of these require some place to store the stuff that used to be there. This means adding an accessory building/shed. But, this is not just boxes of “maybe someday” junk. It is valuable seasonal clothing, heirlooms, tools/equipment and expensive furniture. So, getting the right shed may be a big decisions – or several for different purposes. Insulation? Insect/vermin protection? Security? Get a FREE ImpAct Assessment.
Minimalize. Many seeking a simpler life style desire to shrink their domicile and expenses. The opt for efficiency over effectiveness. This may be psychologically and financially reasonable, but going from 3000 sqft to 700 requires a place to put all of the “won’t fit” stuff. Why give it away or sell cheap when you can have an insulted/protected barn steps away from your comfy cabin? Ask the DreamTeam.
Courtyard. Rather than moving to a larger home or doing expensive room additions, consider doing it the “old way” – like the Romans did. Add several small accessory buildings connected by a breezeway, covered porch or open courtyard. You can have a storage shed, and exercise/hot tub shed, an artist studio and guest cabin for less cost than converting a garage. Why? Because the Building Codes are different and you only heat or air condition these spaces when they are to be used. If these sheds are portable (not real property) they may not need a permit except for optional electric and plumbing. Your DreamTeam can suggest ways of doing this DIY and give advice on any ADU plans.
Greatroom. Some families used to find a piece of property with an old trailer on it. You already have utilities and can live in it while construction the ‘real house.’ As an alternative, fix up the trailer as the domicile base of cooking, sanitation and sleep. Add an insulated 600 sqft barn alongside in which all of the other living functions occur. Furniture and screens can provide separation in a greatroom approach with efficient HVAC and lighting. Ask the DreamTeam about including a bathroom or kitchen or sleeping arrangements without violating Codes or Zoning. NOTE: this barn can be affixed to the trailer, but not attached. Another issue to discuss. The Courtyard and Greatroom approach can be combined into a hamlet of Meeting Hall, Blacksmith, Livery, Boarding House, Saloon and bathhouse/laundry. Add a meditation shed as a church and you have a village. All that for less than having a contractor convert a garage and adding a bathroom.
Some of these ideas/approaches will require a change how your family dresses, communicates and dines. Most people need mental re-organization more than a closet organizer. Adding a shed to your life may be a good physical solution to a problem. But, if you are not prepared to change your living style too … he result of an ImpAct Assessment may be a recommendation to buy something (or not buy what you had planned.) More often, the immediate result is homework for the entire family to ponder, discuss and agree on BEFORE a getting around to “what, where, how much.” Then, your DreamTeam can recommend the best shed solution for your family situation. Simple!
